Electronic Development

Providing supplemental engineering services or turnkey capabilities in all areas of product development, TPR has a strong background in electronics development. TPR's expertise includes conceptualization, system architecture, low and high-end electronic design, component selection, schematic capture, PCB layout and PCB fabrication, PCB assembly, PCB test, PCB prototyping, PCB debugging, PCB pre-production build, and PCB production release. The electronic design capabilities include embedded controllers, firmware design, digital design, analog design, programmable logic design, VHDL design, bus interfaces, communications interfaces, sensors, and more.

TPR provides a full range of printed circuit board (PCB) layout, PCB routing and Gerber artwork generation services for various design technologies including:

  • High speed, high density

  • Analog-digital

  • Multilayer

  • Single-sided, double-sided surface mount and thru-hole

More and more, electronic designs require smaller board (PCB) sizes, smaller components, higher component pin counts, and faster speeds. Today, ball grid arrays and high-density quad flat packs are becoming the norm for PCB designs. This poses challenges for PCB layout & routing and PCB fabrication and PCB assembly. This trend will only continue as customers try to pack as much functionality in the smallest areas possible. TPR has the expertise as well as state-of-the-art design tools and methodologies for PCB work to fulfill these customer needs. In all PCB designs, fabrication and assembly are driving considerations in the process. TPR looks at the big picture by providing designs that yield the highest quality, yet keep costs down.

TPR Ozone Testing Facilities Description (PDF)

TPR has conducted an extensive test on the stability of photographic prints made from a variety of systems from multiple vendors. The report compares the performance of the various images under accelerated conditions to assess their respective permanence and to make life projections. this is available for download at Publications.

TPR's Chief Technologist,
Peter J. Mason,  presented a white paper last month at the Society for Imaging Science and Technology's international conference on Digital Printing Technologies. The paper and the presentation are available for download at publications.

Torrey Pines Research (TPR) has reached terms with one of its largest customers for another extension to their current R&D, Development and Intellectual Property agreement.
