Product Manufacturing
Torrey Pines Research (TPR) is committed to providing customers
with a one-stop solution for product development through
manufacturing. In the process of transitioning from engineering to
prototype fabrication to the pre-production and production of
evaluation quantities of your product, TPR's team understands that
these are important steps in the planning process for manufacturing
end-user-ready products.
TPR's goal is to ensure its customers experience a smooth
transition from product development to product manufacturing.
TurnKey Plus (TKP) was created as the entity to enable the seamless
transition from engineering to manufacturing.
The TPR manufacturing support activities and options typically fall
into one of the following two categories:
-
The customer desires to manufacture the
product using its in-house capabilities or those of its existing
third party manufacturing partner. In these circumstances, TPR
will work closely with the customer and/or the customer's third
party manufacturer to provide a complete documentation package,
together with any necessary special training and instruction as
may be required.
- The customer desires for a third party to manufacture the
product but the customer does not have a third party
manufacturing relationship. In these instances, TPR will provide
its expert assistance in locating the right third party
manufacturer for the job. TPR will disclose its relationship
with TurnKey Plus and would certainly like to have TurnKey Plus
considered as one alternative. However, TPR has relationships
with a number of third party manufacturers, including domestic,
Mexican (maquiladoras), and Pacific Rim manufacturers. Upon
TPR's customer's completion of a manufacturing agreement, TPR
will work closely with TurnKey Plus or another third party
manufacturer to provide a complete documentation package,
together with any necessary special training and instruction as
may be required.
The following is a summary of TPR's manufacturing service
capabilities via
TurnKey Plus:
- Cost-effective “short runs” for evaluation prototypes and
pilot-run quantities
- Fast response for critical lead-time situations
- Proven on-time delivery of reliably built and tested
fixtures and products
- Skilled technical staff, capable of rapid problem resolution
and the assembly, alignment, and test of complex
electromechanical products
- Program planning and management of product development and
manufacturing
- Custom test fixture development
- Material procurement sheet metal, machining, plating, and
paint sourcing
- Scheduling and costing subcontractor selection and
monitoring
- Surface mount and through-hole assembly
- Cable assembly molded cable assembly
- Injection molded plastics
- Sourcing machining and sheet metal fabrication
- Off-shore material sourcing
In one project engagement, TPR was the manufacturer and
successfully completed the manufacture of over 40,000 units during a
three-year period. In this case, the product was drop shipped
directly to the end users.
